As a reader from a young age, I knew, somehow, that my life would involve books and writing. After working at office jobs for several years, a friend recognized a restlessness in me and introduced me to his alma mater, UMass/Boston where he was getting a Masters degree. After a couple of semesters trying to find myself, taking, literally, psychology courses and anthropology courses (I even had a professor who tried her best to get me to major in anthropology), I knew that my major would be in English. And I never looked back.
Books and writing are my comfort zone. I'm happiest when I'm surrounded by my books. I love that I can pick one up at any time and start reading. And I have so many that when I read an article about a particular author, I know I have one or two novels that they have written. I will then go looking through my library and find that author. It is an obsession, a passion, some might even call it an addiction (I've also heard words like 'Bibliophile' and a 'Disciple of the fine art of Tsundoku' - I gave myself that title). Fortunately, reading and writing books is not the kind of addiction that is harmful to oneself or others. In fact, for me, books have been a way to become a better person, learn more about the world and about my life, and share that knowledge with others.
Story in Six is a small way for me to share some simple stories that have meaning and will hopefully leave an impression on those who read them.
